Dear Sirs,

The WARD UNION stag hunt is now banned. Mounted Fox hunting, hare hunting, beagling and the shooting of many of our native birds andwildlife continues to be legal. To enable us to monitor these activities weneed more ordinary people living especially  in Meath and County Dublin tophotograph hunters on public roads. This is perfectly legal and enables us toknow the extent of hunting that is now taking place. We also requireinformation on the whereabouts of any Red deer seen in the fields.

We ask people to join us in helping wildlife to survive thewidespread hunting that is widespread in Ireland. We simply ask you to carry acamera, while out walking, to keep one in your car or to just be vigilant whenyou encounter a situation involving innocent animals. Our volunteers need helpas we cannot be everywhere. Photographs or video footage from people all overIreland is also welcome.

Ireland’s wildlife does not belong to anyone. They share theplanet with us, hunters just use them as sporting targets because they can.Help us to help them. We also thank those of you who regularly forward vitalinformation anonymously.

 Tom Worby and Mike Hill, both killed whilst out sabbing

Steve Christmas was run over whilstsabbing the Old Surrey & Burstow Hunt, in Sussex, he was chased and runover by a 4x4 driven by a hunt supporter. He sustained serious injuriesincluding a crushed pelvis, broken ribs and internal injuries and had to beairlifted form the field to Haywards Heath Hospital. Steve, who was only 42 islucky to be alive today after the removal of a foot of bowel and spending amonth in intensive care in which he was close to death several times,contracting MRSA as well.

He has been unable to work in the 8 years since and suffers ongoing problems.

Robertcundy, terrier boy with the essex and suffolk foxhunt was convicted in 2008 forcommon assault - punched a sab right in front of the police. he pleadedguilty in court and was fined £200.

Sir/Madam,

I do believe that some common ground may at last have emerged between those ofus opposed to bloodsports, and those who frighten and kill animals for fun. Irefer to recent calls by members of the hunting fraternity for more mediacoverage of their so-called sport.

Byall means, let's give more publicity to hunting and coursing! But instead ofthe picture postcard type images which the media is so fond of using to portraythese bloody pass times, how about showing the public these activities in alltheir gory reality.

Instead of cute pictures of moist-nosed hounds and jollyhunters partaking of the stirrup cup, let us have some pictures showingterrier men, shovels and probes in hand, retrieveing a dis-embowelled foxfrom its covert, or their pink-jacketed superiors swinging a half-dead fox bythe tail just before they toss it to the waiting pack of bayinghounds. How about some full colour images of a hunted stag lying in aditch exhausted and bloodied from injuries sustained during the chase,or some glossies of a pile of broken-bodied hares bludgeoned to deathafter they were injured during a coursing meeting.

If these were the images of hunting and coursing which appeared in the Irishmedia, then there is little doubt that discussion of such activities would betaking place in a historical context only. For it is my firm belief, that nofully-informed, civilised society would continue to tolerate such barbarism inthe name of sport.

‘Hares are still getting injured during the coursing,also the real cruelty is in the netting and confinement of these gentlecreatures. GREYHOUNDS are also a disposable  commodity to thesepeople  when they get injured.

 The cloth cap brigade have blood on their hands,this spectacle is archaic and outdated.’
